Otter and Sunshine Studio

In 2026 we are trying something new. Last year Olive and I started to create and share our art work in the framework of a creative business. We experienced many successes, and had a lot of fun. However, we are going to be making some changes to our model, with the intention to align this work to our personal values. For this year we are committed to endeavoring to dig into the concept of prefigurative imagination and the gift economy.

What exactly does that mean?

Well, we aren’t quite sure yet!

What we do know is that right now there are a lot of powerful actors who are causing great harm, and in our own way, we want to act in response. Our response is to gift.

Art and creativity tether me to my humanity, and I want to share that with you. I heard an artist (who‘s name I can’t remember) say that making art isn’t enough, and yet it is necessary. This inspired me. May I act in a way that I can be proud of, and may my actions contribute to that which is good in the world. Our response is to gift.
